RECYCLED & ORGANIC COTTON
Recycled cotton
Our accessories such as tote bags and caps are made of 100% recycled cotton which have been produced from waste such as old clothes or fabric waste by weaving factories in the textile manufacturing process of the fashion industry. It is processed with machines that shreds, pull apart, clean, and mix it with virgin cotton before spinning it into new yarns. Recycled cotton length consistency is not equal to the original but it is still lightweight, breathable, and quick-drying, similar to conventional cotton.
Why recycled cotton?
The process of recycling cotton can distract waste from landfills estimated at 11 billion kilograms. Since recycled cotton is mostly sourced from factory textile leftovers, the amount of energy, water, and dye used in the production is reduced from using a processed product. Furthermore, the use of recycled cotton helps reduce 30% of 1.2 thousand million tons of carbon emissions in the production process, cut down the use of water of more than 10,000 liters per kilogram of cotton in the new cotton planting, and also decreases more than 2,700 liters of water in the production process of one t-shirt.
Organic cotton
Organic cotton is from non-genetically modified seeds and is grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers and persistent pesticides therefore it has a friendly impact on the environment; the earth’s soil, water, air, and the health of people. Not only how organic cotton is grown but also, it’s been manufactured socially and environmentally responsible to be sure that what we’re providing our customers such as our 100% organic cotton socks is good for people and the planet.
